Five New House Design Ideas
2016 is very promising for new home design. If you are looking for ideas for your home renovation or new construction, we have put together the top five trends in new home design to help you get started.
1. Tiny Houses
Tiny houses are becoming increasingly popular as homeowners are looking to downsize and declutter. The tiny house has space for every necessity and utilizes every inch of the home for storage. Due to their size, some tiny houses are portable, so you can take it with you if you decide to travel and see the world. Tiny houses come in all shapes and styles, however, this tiny farmhouse is one of the cutest little houses we’ve seen lately. Check out the vintage details, from windows to siding, as well as the loft for sleeping. You can get an inspiration about Tiny Houses here…

2. Converted Barns
Another recent trend in home design is barn conversions. These home designs are great for homeowners that are looking for something different and want to get away from neighborhoods full of “cookie-cutter” homes. Barns are large and roomy and give the designer a blank canvas to work with. Plus, converting a barn into a home preserves a piece of history. Antique barns were built with large wooden beams and other aspects that you just can’t find in modern design. Most barns can be moved to your location while preserving all of the character and detail that make these structures desirable.

3. Restored Church
Another heart-warming new home design trend is the restoration and conversion of old church buildings into beautiful living spaces. Churches are full of character, and again allow the homeowner to avoid having a house just like every other house in the neighborhood. Typically, these homes use the main congregational area for living space, such as kitchen, dining room, and family room. The loft hosts the sleeping areas. While this particular church conversion was done in Sydney, Australia, there are hundreds of these conversions taking place in the U.S. as well, especially in rural areas.

4. Passive Home
In the quest to save money and conserve natural resources, several designers are creating “passive homes.” These homes are energy efficient and use a mere fraction of the energy required by a traditional home. Some features of these homes are triple-pane windows, as well as environmentally friendly siding and other “green” design aspects. This particular house is fully customizable, with sleeping areas in the loft, and uses only 1/10 of the amount of energy that a traditional home needs to heat the space.

5. Middle Eastern Design
Another new house design trend that we are seeing pop up for 2016 is aspects of middle eastern design being incorporated into homes. Gorgeous plaster finishes, tall arched windows, handmade roof tiles and other design touches all add character. As a lovely example, this luxury home is completely done in this type of architecture, transporting visitors to another time and place while offering all the amenities of the current era.
